Although I've never taken a formal photography class at school, my journalism prerequisite class left me prepared to take thoughtful photos for online and print publications. My journalism adviser taught me the importance of the rule of thirds, leading lines and taking photos creatively. I have won two photo awards, a 3rd place for Newspaper Sports Photo at the 2017 Minnesota High School Press Association convention and a 5th place for Newspaper Feature Photo at the same convention. I identify the photos within the sub-categories below. These categories do not nearly contain every image I've taken for our publication, but rather my best examples of my photojournalism skills.
